PURPLE PASTELS & ASSOCIATED CHILD THEMES THEME OPTIONS Collapsing sub-menus (vertical sidebar) Fairly self-explanatory. If the collapsing sub-menus are enabled, only top level Categories and Pages will be shown. Clicking on a parent Category or Page will then reveal all descendants. Featured Post Image Size Allows you to set a custom thumbnail size for the featured images (See Edit Post/Edit Page). Dimensions are in pixels. Featured Post Image Cropping When creating featured post thuumbnails from larger images, WordPress offers 2 cropping modes: Soft & Hard. Soft cropping creates images that are always in proportion. Hard cropping reduces images to the exact dimensions specified (which can distort some images). Post Excerpt Length Posts with a featured image will automatically use generated excerpts on category & archive listing pages. Use this option to define how many words you want to display in these excerpts. Pages in this section list All parent Pages can display their associated "page tree". Selecting "Hide" will remove this tree from ALL Pages. Allowed Tags (comment form) Hide or display the list of allowed HTML tags below the Comment box. Post Numbers (a - b of x entries) All post listing pages can show a summary of how many posts are available for viewing and where the visitor is within that list of posts just below the top navigation menu. For example: "Displaying 1 - 10 of 17 entries." Widget Titles All WordPress core widgets and the Login widget with this theme include an option to display a widget title'heading. Whilst this is often useful, in some circumstances (e.g. adding a banner image using the Text widget), these headings can be intrusive. Whilst it is possible to add a widget with an empty title, the empty widget heading tags that this generates are not ideal. Hiding widget titles via this option allows you to set proper widget headings (which may enhance SEO) but removes them from the graphical page display. CHILD THEMES This theme has been developed to support the creation of child themes. Wherever possible, do not customise this theme but create a child theme for your customisations instead. Customising this theme will cause you to lose all of your changes if/when you later upgrade the theme. A child theme will protect your changes but still allow you to upgrade the parent theme. See for further information. There some child themes available for this theme. See for a full list. Bespoke/customised child themes can also be developed for a moderate fee.
